The Importance Of Face-To-Face Networking
Posted by: Alex Erasmus
With the huge increase in the role of online in the media world, in particular social media, it’s easy to forget the importance of face-to-face networking. It’s great to ‘connect’ with people on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and the like, but nothing beats having a drink and chewing the fat in person.
My Bullet colleague Paul Matthews and I hosted the first ever ‘Media Mingle’ (www.mediamingle.co.nz ) last night at Suite Bar in Auckland city centre. The night went extremely well, with lots of great networking happening over a few free drinks and a bite to eat. With a range of PRs, advertisers, journalists, marketers and other assorted media people, there was an interesting mix that we hope to replicate at the next event.
Last night was sponsored by Bullet PR, with our boss kindly paying for the drinks; however, we are looking to also get other sponsors on board for future events. Free food was supplied by Suite Bar and we are also extremely grateful to gardyneHOLT (www.gardyneholt.co.nz ) who designed and built our website.
We must also say thank you to our supporters: PRiNZ, CAANZ, DINZ and the Marketing Association.
Join us on our Facebook group – Media Mingle NZ – to keep up with the latest information.
